S/4HANA for International Trade

Role Overview
For our global Manufacturing client, we’re seeking a hands-on SAP GTS Consultant to support our migration from classic SAP GTS to SAP S/4HANA for International Trade, with a January go-live. The project is in Build & Test phase, and we’ll wait for the right candidate up to a June start.
This is a delivery role, not advisory only. You’ll lead configuration, master data migration, and cutover across Compliance, Customs, and Risk Management, with a particular focus on the cross-border flows that underpin our project-based shipments of large engineered systems and ongoing spare parts business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the classic GTS ? S/4HANA International Trade migration, including fit-to-standard workshops, master data migration (business partners, products, classification, licences, customs documents, preference agreements, SPL lists), and mapping legacy functionality to the new model.
- Configure SAP GTS end-to-end: SPL screening, embargo and legal control, import/export customs declarations and communication with customs authorities (ATLAS, AES, CDS, NCTS), transit and bonded warehouse procedures, preference determination and vendor declarations, and letter of credit processing.
- Support the trade flows specific to our business: multi-shipment project exports of AS/RS and high-bay warehouse systems, cross-border spare parts movements, intercompany flows between manufacturing and assembly sites, and customer site installations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Resolve migration and integration impacts across SD, MM, LE/Shipping and FI, including feeder system reconfiguration, document transfer architecture, functional gaps, and custom code remediation.
- Support SIT, UAT, cutover, and post-go-live stabilisation, including parallel running of customs filings, reconciliation of in-flight documents, and licence depreciation continuity.
Required Experience
- 10+ years SAP experience with strong hands-on expertise in classic SAP GTS and S/4HANA for International Trade
- Multiple full lifecycle GTS implementations and proven migration experience
- Strong configuration skills across Compliance, Customs, and Risk Management (not just design)
- Manufacturing / engineered-equipment environment experience with active cross-border trade
- Integration knowledge across SD, MM, LE (Shipping) and FI, plus the GTS plug-in / feeder system architecture
- Working knowledge of at least one major customs channel (ATLAS, AES, CDS, NCTS, or equivalent)
- Excellent stakeholder management across IT, trade compliance, logistics, and customs brokers
