SAP 3PL Logistics – Solution Design Lead (Contract)

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end 3PL logistics release outcomes, including scope baseline and change control for each defined release.
• Validate global and local 3PL business processes and requirements, confirming fit against core process standards.
• Support creation of functional solution specifications for SAP 3PL integration, covering configuration and functional design decisions.
• Produce integration specifications and end-to-end scenario alignment for 3PL interfaces with S/4HANA Commercial, Intercompany Order Execution, Direct Procurement and Finance processes.
• Define cross-functional process integration and impacts across Warehouse & Distribution, Commercial Operations, Intercompany Order Management and Direct Procurement.
• Define test scope and scenario catalogues; create and update test scripts; execute business screening and UAT with documented evidence, defect logging and closure verification.
• Define master data prerequisites for screening, testing and cutover, and deliver data readiness checks aligned to release milestones.
• Deliver the cutover readiness package, including cutover plan/runbook and go-live validation checks.
• Update or create impacted SOPs and working instructions; finalise release delta training materials and job aids.
• Baseline logistics reporting and analytics requirements and validate reporting outputs per release.
• Deliver go-live readiness assessment and operational handover package, including hypercare entry and exit criteria.
• Represent the 3PL logistics function in hypercare, assessing incidents and enhancement requests to ensure no break in operations.
• Support BAU for live markets: assess enhancement requests, verify proposed solutions and prepare CAB submissions in alignment with the Logistics process owner.

Delivery Phasing

1. Mobilisation – ways of working, RACI, cadence, reporting and escalation confirmed; initial delivery task list agreed.
2. Release 1 – UAT and cutover support, go-live and hypercare.
3. Release 2 – build support, integrated screening and UAT preparation and execution, cutover, go-live and hypercare.
4. Release 3 – conceptual design workshops and requirement closure, build, integrated screening and UAT, cutover, go-live and hypercare.
5. BAU – ongoing enhancement assessment and CAB support for live markets.

Required Experience

• Strong SAP S/4HANA logistics background with demonstrable 3PL integration experience.
• Proven delivery across full release lifecycles: requirements, design, build support, testing, cutover, go-live and hypercare.
• Solid understanding of integration points between logistics and Commercial, Intercompany Order Management, Direct Procurement and Finance.
• Experience defining test strategy and executing UAT with formal evidence and defect management.
• Experience with master data readiness, cutover planning and operational handover in a regulated or validated environment.
• Comfortable working to a structured programme methodology with formal documentation and acceptance criteria.
• Excellent stakeholder management across global and local business functions.

Desirable

• Life sciences / pharmaceutical sector experience.
• Multi-country rollout experience.
• Familiarity with SOP authoring and training material development.
