Master Data Subject Matter Expert (SAP Business Partner)
Location: Remote (UK/Europe preferred; occasional overlap with US Eastern Time)
Engagement: Part-time (~1–1.5 days/week; flexible schedule)
Start: Immediate start
Duration: 12 months - initial 4-month design phase, then continuation through implementation and data cleanup
About the Client
A US-based beverage company, currently running SAP ECC with legacy master data structures. The client plans an S/4HANA migration and is adopting the SAP Business Partner (BP) concept now, supported by Stibo as their Master Data Management (MDM) system.
Role Purpose
Provide advisory expertise on SAP Business Partner master data strategy, governance, and structure. Focus on business-oriented master data decisions to ensure high-quality, consistent, and usable BP records that support current operations and future S/4HANA transformation. Operate at the interface of SAP, business processes, and strategy to guide stakeholders in making informed, data-driven decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Be an SME in master data management related to business partners with a strong focus on business advisory.
- Advise on structuring SAP Business Partners: customers, suppliers, and other partner types (e.g., commission or rebate recipients).
- Define BP roles, relationships, and hierarchies to ensure data consistency, usability, and governance across the enterprise.
- Participate in customer workshops and align with technical consultants
- Provide experience-based recommendations and best practice on master data management from the beverage or consumer packaged goods industry.
- Share practical patterns, lessons learned, and industry references to guide decisions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Deep expertise in SAP Master Data Management, specifically SAP Business Partner (ECC/S/4HANA).
- Strong business and industry acumen, able to advise, recommend, and justify approaches.
- Experience in beverage or consumer packaged goods industries preferred.
- Ability to operate at the intersection of business processes, strategy, and SAP systems.
- Excellent client-facing communication and advisory skills.
- Familiarity with MDM tools (Stibo experience a plus).
- Flexible and responsive; able to work across US and UK/EU time zone
