Data Separation Strategy & Governance Lead – Carve-Out Programme
Location: Germany (client site in Düsseldorf), at least 3 days every other week on site Start: Immediate (interviews this week) Duration: 8 months Language: English required; German a plus
The role A leading global consultancy needs a senior lead to own data separation strategy and governance on a live carve-out of a German manufacturing business. The scope covers the client’s entire application and infrastructure estate, not only SAP. You’ll turn business, legal and regulatory requirements into clear, executable separation decisions, and you’ll lead two existing team members.
Key responsibilities
Own the end-to-end data separation methodology, principles and governance framework
Define the data perimeter, ownership, classification, segregation criteria and historical-data strategy
Coordinate decisions across Business, Legal/Antitrust, Privacy, Security and IT on ownership, transferability, retention and competition-sensitive data
Translate those decisions into actionable requirements for application, data, integration and infrastructure teams
Govern treatment options: transfer, retain, clone, archive, restrict, delete/purge, TSA access, and masking/anonymisation where deletion isn’t feasible
Resolve co-mingled data scenarios, exceptions and residual risks, and secure the approvals they need
Set up traceability, controls and evidence so the separation is provable and auditable
Run data-separation readiness and governance forums, and escalate unresolved risks and decisions
Essential
Proven data separation leadership on carve-outs, divestitures or M&A separations
A solid grasp of enterprise applications, data architecture, infrastructure and data migration
Experience handling antitrust/clean-team and GDPR constraints
Strong governance, structured problem-solving and executive communication, up to CIO level
