Associate Partner – Energy & Utilities (SAP & Retail Focus)
Role Overview The Associate Partner in the Energy & Utilities practice plays a senior leadership role in shaping and delivering large-scale transformation programmes for utilities clients, with a particular focus on the retail business and SAP-enabled operating models. The role combines deep expertise in utilities retail processes with strong SAP solution leadership to help clients modernise customer operations, enable regulatory compliance, and drive operational excellence.
As a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, the Associate Partner is responsible for leading complex, technology-enabled transformations, driving commercial growth, and building long-term client relationships across the utilities retail value chain.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Delivery
Serves as a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior executives within utilities retail organisations
Leads end-to-end delivery of major SAP-enabled transformation programmes, with accountability for quality, outcomes, and commercial performance
Provides deep subject-matter leadership across utilities retail processes including customer management, billing, metering, settlements, and revenue assurance
Oversees solution design and implementation for SAP utilities platforms, ensuring alignment between business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technology architecture
Manages complex stakeholder environments involving business, IT, systems integrators, and third-party vendors
SAP & Utilities Retail Expertise
Brings strong hands-on experience with SAP solutions in the utilities sector, including:
SAP IS-U (billing, invoicing, device and meter management)
Meter-to-Cash and Order-to-Cash processes
Integration with metering systems, market messaging, and regulatory reporting
Experience with S/4HANA for Utilities, SAP CX, and related SAP ecosystems (where applicable)
Shapes target operating models and transformation roadmaps for utilities retail businesses undergoing SAP modernisation or platform replacementAdvises clients on best practices for utilities retail transformation, including process standardisation, automation, and digital customer experience Business Development & Growth
Drives business development in SAP- and utilities retail–led opportunities, from opportunity identification through proposal development and deal closure
Builds and expands senior client relationships, with responsibility for account growth and revenue generation
Contributes to the development of utilities retail and SAP-related offerings, assets, and points of view
Represents the firm externally through thought leadership, industry forums, and client events
People & Firm Leadership
Leads, mentors, and develops high-performing consulting teams across strategy, functional, and technology-enabled engagements
Coaches senior leaders within the practice, supporting career progression toward partner-level roles
Acts as a role model for the firm’s values, quality standards, and inclusive leadership culture
Contributes to firm-wide initiatives beyond the Energy & Utilities practice as required
Required Experience & Capabilities
Extensive experience in management consulting, systems integration, or industry roles within the utilities retail sector
Strong, demonstrable expertise in SAP for Utilities, particularly SAP IS-U and associated billing, metering, and customer solutions
Proven track record leading large-scale SAP-enabled transformation programmes in utilities environments
Deep understanding of utilities retail operating models, regulatory frameworks, and market processes
Demonstrated success in business development, including shaping SAP-led propositions and generating revenue
Strong commercial acumen, executive presence, and ability to influence senior stakeholders
Experience leading and developing diverse, multi-disciplinary teams
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MSc, or equivalent) preferred
Travel
Willingness to travel as required to support client engagements and business development activities
