Practice Leader DACH – Healthcare & Life Science Consulting

Masentó Search have been engaged on an exclusive basis by a global management consultancy to identify candidates for the position of Practice Leader for their HCLS business in the DACH region.

This is a senior leadership position that will require extensive experience in consultancy and deep industry knowledge in the HCLS area.

Fluent German language skills and the right to work in Germany are also minimum requirements for this role.


Role Description

The Healthcare & Life Sciences (HCLS) team advises clients from the life sciences industry (pharmaceuticals and medical technology) on the topics of digital transformation, digital strategies, process optimization and innovation. The focus is on new business models with digital product and service offerings as well as the optimisation and realignment of clients' IT strategy and transformation.

My client now seek to hire a Consulting Practice Leader, reporting directly to the Regional VP HCLS Industry Consulting and Regional Consulting Leader – to own and drive Consulting revenue growth and profitability within the designated account In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for managing Consulting Sales and Delivery functions, opportunity prioritisation and management, and revenue realisation across one of our leading global pharmaceutical accounts.

Role Responsibilities

You will work hand-in-hand with the Account Teams, regional and local leadership, as well as Commercial and Delivery teams to develop account plans and a balanced book of business across targeted growth areas within the account. Working with senior executives, sales teams, and support functions, you will have responsibility for building and managing CxO-level strategic account relationships within business and IT, driving profitable and sustainable Consulting growth, maximizing the delivery of client value, and facilitating client, account team, and employee satisfaction.

This opportunity calls for an entrepreneurially driven Consulting professional of exceptional pedigree, that is passionate about growing business, managing portfolios, and taking companies to the next level.

You will have a deep understanding of the Life Sciences business landscape, IT challenges and regulatory drivers. You are also skilled at defining high value service offerings that align to industry needs and building capabilities to achieve strategic objectives with a goal of generating high value and above average growth for Consulting.

As a practice leader you will leverage their personal relevant experience to drive the sales process, be accountable for proactive engagement, improving/accelerated strategic deals and client wins and in delivery of a large programme or a portfolio of engagements in our growing industry practice. You will be responsible for achieving the assigned annual revenue quota and profitability targets and will require a self-starter mentality and exceptional work ethic, paired with the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.

Candidate Qualification

  • Several years of top-tier, industry-focused advisory/consulting experience with a focus on practice development, global Account Management, Business Development, Large-Programme / Engagement-Portfolio-Delivery, and Content Development
  • Exceptional understanding of the pharmaceutical industry – context, strategies, process, and regulatory challenges
  • Demonstrable excellence in relevant Account Management & Development; responsibility for accounts with a focus on outcome- based services/solutions
  • Clear domain Value-Chain SME-positioning within the industry, with documented track-record of generating personal Consulting revenue
  • Having consistently and successfully managed business and IT relationships at CxO-level, with a focus on the Digital Transformation Agenda
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to create and deliver compelling propositions in English as well as German language.
  • Track record in managing people successfully and building practices with a high-performance team with leadership qualities such as conflict resolution, strategic thinking, and ownership
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Experience in facilitating and driving co-innovation with clients and partners
